M. Garrett Wheeler: Born and raised on the island of Maui, Mr. Wheeler graduated from St. Louis School in Honolulu, where he was the captain of the baseball team. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in economics/political science from UCLA.
His mission is to inspire, educate and motivate people to take action by engaging both their hearts and minds. As a high school and college athlete, he believed in the game of competition. Hired at age 24 straight out of UCLA by GTE Directories, Garrett dived-in head-first into the dog-eat-dog world of professional advertising sales. At that point, he had found his passionate niche.
At 29, he became the president/COO of Successories of Hawaii, Inc. He continues to provide consulting services to its online division, SuccessHawaii.com. He was previously the vice-president of The Human Connection, Inc., a firm specializing in personnel training and staff development. In addition, he served as the HR Director for one of the largest entertainment companies in Hawaii, with over 400 employees. These HR workplace experiences provided him with a solid foundation, and an inside perspective on the continuous need for quality employee training.
Over a decade ago, Mr. Wheeler made a career transition and became licensed in the financial services industry. As a trusted advisor, Mr. Wheeler helps families and businesses with their insurance, financial and long term care planning needs. Everything Garrett does is built around improving the lives of his clients.
Then suddenly, at the height of his career, he was struck down by an auto accident in 2005. Garrett was told that he would likely be a quadriplegic. Determined to fight, he regained his ability to walk, reaching a progress level that less than one percent of patients with his diagnosis achieve. He humbly credits God, his beautiful wife Michelle, and his loving family for giving him the strength to persevere. His athletic background and most significantly, his positive mental attitude got him through those difficult times, leading him from a place a dire adversity to one of incredible success.
With over two decades of sales and management experience, he enjoys helping others find concrete and actionable strategies to implement in their daily lives. His goal is to deliver practical tools and business ideas that can be utilized immediately. Most importantly, he is blissful about helping others to rediscover their passions and purpose in this ever-changing 21st century life. His measure of a successful session is that each participant will walk away from the presentation with at least one “secret” life lesson that he will invariably share.
